Here is how the points will go down for each race -

1st place - 8 points

2nd place - 7 points

3rd place - 6 points

4th place onwards - 5 points

Mustang vs The World Leaderboard

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well I am glad we are going to start a new season in a few weeks.

Glad it is 8-wide again. I would like to alternate between BrackAttack and 8-wide.

I enjoyed the BA season after several 8-wide and really did not see any problems.

We had about the same turnout each week as other seasons 20 to start and then 12- 16

after a few weeks. Some different people than the previous 8- wide crowd, but racers have

been coming and going each of 11 seasons for 2 1/2 years.

For those of us regular die hard dragsters that keep coming back alternate types

of race venues is desired to avoid boredom.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This last season is the first of 11 FHRA seasons where some controversity about how

the season and championship were decided has been mentioned.

To avoid this I think we should be clear about how everything will go down on the first days

before the season even starts.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So far we know there will be 8 races in the season and what the points given for each race will be.

Before season 12 starts lets also define how the championship race after the season is over will be run.

We would like to have 16 racers qualify for the championship and show up for the race.

Not everyone can make every race and some need even the remotest of chances to win

if they are even going to show up, given the heavy competition we have been attracting.

Since the championship race will decide the overall season 12 champion,

we need to define how that will be run before we start. ;)

Those that do well during the season should have an advantage going in to the championship.

Those that don’t do as well need a small chance to beat the odds and be the champion.

Just like they do in the March Maddness basketball where the top dog during the season

does not always win the championship.

So let’s explain how that will work before we start.

I will go the "world team" it will help to take my brand global!  ;)  looking forward to the new season ahead it will rock. After season 12 we can't be too far off 3 years in the video game/virtual world that must be like working the same job 30-40 years. Because in that time I'm sure many imitators of the FHRA/FODRL have come and gone but were still rolling onwards & upwards. 8)

I'm thinking the last 2 races will be double points, if we take the top 8 do we reset the points or add champ points to the season points.

My vote is to add them to the season points. At least that is how Voodoo is doing its points chase on Friday night drags.

I think keeping the season points going into the championship can work out.

Especially if we take the top 8 and double the points.

The season leaders could pull away, but the others have the same shot to jump out front

with there being 2 parts to the championship.

I will run either way, but I think we should make the Championship race

seperate from the season > Like NFL playoffs.

The top 8 make the playoffs and any one of the 8 can be the Season Champ

(Super bowl winner). ;)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So if you carry over the season points and add championship points, there

will need to be enough championship points available so that any one

of the 8 racers can win the championship.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

With 8 wide I think we should do the championship like we have in the past.

Depending on your season points (which are dropped) you get bonus points

going into the championship to reflect a season advantage.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

With only 8 in the championship, there will be one lobby and 2 rounds.

If the championship points are set up such that some of the 8 racers

can not win the championship they might not want to show up. :/

So why run the other races HOT?

I thought the whole point of running a season was to show up, do your best and advance in the points.

If you throw the season points out then why show up for those races?

When I raced here before in the 8 wide the last race could be won by anyone but it did not determine the season champion.

Those points were simply added to the season total. Or do I have it all wrong?

The NFL isn't a points chase. It's a tournament where the best teams are seeded, given bye rounds and home field advantage. I don't see how that is analogous to drag racing. I would love to win a title, but I also find it a challenge to better my position each week and have the possibility to move up in the standings in a final race. I will race in a final race no matter what position I am in, but if I can get in by only racing half or fewer races I don't see why I should race each week. There is a good chance I'll have to miss a few races for the upcoming season. If so, I would think I would be a very big long shot to win the title but I am good with that.

In every sport that has a playoff championship,

the season results are to determine the seeding in the playoffs.

Do baseball or NFL season results advance into the playoffs. > No

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You run the season races to have fun and try to be at the top of the standings.

You run the season races to determine which racers make the playoffs.

You run the season races to determine what the playoff seedings will be.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The reality in this video game and in real life is >> if teams that make playoffs are so far ahead

that nobody has a chance to catch them, then people do not show up because the result is known. :(

.

All you hear is the sound of one hand clapping. > The hand of the dominant player. :/

This is not a playoff, it's a points system. Could we talk about NHRA, NMCA, or NASCAR?

Sorry, I don’t follow your logic there.

The NFL is a points chase determined by the winning percentage .727

It is not a tournament until the points are determined.

Same with baseball, you get points added to your percentage.

Hockey is a points chase.

Soccer is a points chase.

Nascar is a points chase. > that determines playoff seeding.

NHRA is a points chase. > that determines playoff seeding.

F1 is a points chase >> but no playoff.

I don’t see how this would not apply to a video game season event.

If not then there is no point in having a Championship race.

Drag racing is not a college arena sport venue. If you look at NHRA wich does have a 10 race points chase (which I don't really agree with) but at the end of those 10 races the racer with the most points wins. NMCA and NMRA run an entire season and the guy with the most points at the end of the season wins. The Championship is not decided by 1 race but all the races collectivly leading up to the last race. What it sounds to me like is what you want to see is a racer who has a poor season come in and win the championship off of one race over a guy who has an exceptional season and a poor race. There is a stratigy to winning a championship and with one race deciding the whole season champion all stratigy is thrown out the window except one and that is to win the last race because it is the only one that matters in the end. That does not really seem fair.

A playoff system is where you are placed in a single elimination bracket and given bye weeks and home field advantage based on the number of games you win. The system for determining seeding goes well beyond win-loss percentage if there are ties between teams. A playoff system also comes down to two teams. This is not a playoff system.
